About

One person for the plan and the product.

MEW IO LLC is the independent consultancy of Justin Pincar, based in San Francisco, California. I work with founders, operators, and studios that need both a clear decision and someone to go build it.

Mew is one person, and that is the whole proposition rather than a stage it is trying to grow out of. You are not handed to an account manager, and the work is not quietly passed to somebody more junior once the engagement starts. When something genuinely needs more hands than mine, I say so before you commit, and you meet whoever joins.

Why the range is the point

Strategy that never meets an implementation stays theoretical. Engineering without a business argument behind it produces beautifully built things nobody asked for. The gap between those two failures is where most consulting money quietly disappears.

Keeping the whole span with one person is the point. The person writing the market analysis is the one who has to ship the software it implies. The person architecting the backend sat in the pricing conversation. When the plan meets reality — and it always does — nobody has to be convinced to change it, because there is no handoff to defend.

What that looks like in practice

A typical engagement starts narrow: a single decision, a stalled product, a codebase somebody inherited, a game concept that needs to be proven before it is funded. I spend the first weeks getting to something concrete — a working prototype, a model with real numbers in it, a plan with named owners and dates — rather than a discovery phase that ends in a document.

From there the shape follows the work. Some clients keep me on retainer for judgment. Others hand me a scope and take delivery of a finished product. Several started as one and became the other.

Who I work with

Early-stage founders who need a technical partner rather than an agency. Operators inside mid-size companies with a problem that spans functions. Studios that need production help without adding headcount. Investors who want an honest read on a technical asset before they commit.

Being one person is a real constraint, not a positioning line: I take on a small number of engagements at a time, and I will tell you early when something is not a fit or needs more hands than I have.

About the cat

The hand-drawn Mew cat
Fig. 1The cat. Older than the company.

It was on this domain long before there was a business attached to it, and it is staying. It is the one piece of the brand that was never a strategic decision, which is probably why it has outlasted everything else on the page — and why the rest of the site is drawn the way it is drawn: one line weight, round shapes, nothing filled in.

Start with a conversation.

Tell me the problem in a paragraph. If I am the right person for it, I will say so — and if I am not, I will usually know someone who is.
